Yesterday was so much fun! We finally had a whole day out on the town! We started the day off going to Dachau Concentration Camp. It was so heart wrenching to see what our brothers went through in order to remain loyal to Jehovah. Nothing could shake their faith. There were so many positive experiences about how loyal the Witnesses remained. It was so faith strengthening to see what they were willing to endure, in order to remain faithful to our God Jehovah.
After that tour concluded, our tour guide, Steffan, suggested we take the Bier Garden & Brewery tour or go to the English Garden. We decided to do both, and I am so glad we did! We went to the English Garden first. It was so nice outside, the weather was absolutely perfect! As we walked I could hear rushing water and walked over where a bunch of people were standing around. Turns out, theres a waterfall on one side of the city and this stream runs through the whole city. At this part of the park the water comes rushing out from under a bridge in such a way that people surf here! It was so cool! We continued through the park and found that this is basically Munich's version of the beach. Although its a huge grassy park, like the size of Central Park, theres people laying out near the water, swimming, playing frisbee, volleyball and even bbqing! Theres lots of different paths you can take and we enjoyed wandering through them. We then found a cute little coffee shop, though more people seemed to be ordering beer than coffee, so we did too. I got the Radler, a beer mixed with lemonade, and it is now my favorite beverage... like ever! It was so refreshing on such a warm day after walking around. It was so good in fact, that we decided to get another one to go... since it is legal, and very much so encouraged, to drink in public.
From the English Garden we headed straight to the Bier Garden tour, and we really had fun here. Our tour guide, Keilan, was really cool. We also had 2 Aussie couples from Perth join us, and 2 Japanese girls, as well as 1 girl from Hong Kong. We had a blast with the Aussies! The girls were hilarious and super down to earth. We quickly became the loudest, most obnoxious "Americans" around. We were far too busy laughing and having fun to really notice though! We toured the oldest brewery in the world. It was established in the 1300's! Its also right across the street from where they have Oktoberfest each year.
Some encouraging info on the stance that our brothers took and the strength they had despite all that they went through.
